All my friends are asking dates to the homecoming dance coming up, but the problem is that I don’t really want a date. I mean, I like the people in my grade, but I don’t really want to do anything like that. But, I’m worried my friends will make fun of me if I don’t take a date. What do I do?

Thanks for trusting me on such a personal topic, and I get it, getting a date for the homecoming dance can be daunting and you may not feel as if you want to get involved in romance at the moment, or you are just too shy, in this case, I will assume it is the former. When it comes to something like this, I believe that it is better if you do what will make you happy, because doing stuff for the sake of making others happy is just going to lead to you being unhappy in the end, and won’t do you any good. In the end, I can not tell you what to do with your own life as I am just a random advice columnist, but personally, just go to have fun, it’s homecoming, that’s something that is more or less fun, so do what makes you happy, because your happiness matters the most.
