On August 27th, the Emery High boys’ varsity soccer team kicked off their season with an electrifying 1-0 victory over Summit K2. The Spartans displayed impressive passing, communication, strong defense, and teamwork, leading them to a well-earned win against the Summit Dragons.
Under the leadership and guidance of Coach Todd and his son Todd, the team has shown exceptional skill and dedication. Coach Todd expressed his satisfaction with the season opener: “The win boosts our confidence and sets the momentum for future games.” He highlighted the team’s strengths, including strong passing, effective communication, and standout speed, noting the contributions of track stars like seniors William Richie and Cameron Kane-Ross.
Coach Todd also emphasized the importance of academics and discipline. He states “Being a student comes first. Good grades and discipline are essential for joining the team.”
As the team prepares for their next game, they are focused on their upcoming match against the Jewish Community of San Francisco on September 3rd. Last season, Emery High experienced a heartbreaking defeat in the second round of the playoffs to the same team. The game will be held at the Jewish Community’s field, and we encourage everyone to come out and support our Spartans.
The Emery High community is proud of the team’s hard work and dedication. Keep up the great effort!
